Collection: Dawid Oosthuizen
Dawid Oosthuizen was born on 29 July 1986 in Welkom, South Africa. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for sculpture, drawing inspiration from both Japanese and African artistic traditions. Their rich history, craftsmanship, and expressive forms continue to influence his creative journey.
Joining the Charles Greig Company marked a turning point in his career, providing him with the opportunity to immerse himself in the art of bronze sculpture. Working closely with the sculpting process sparked a profound passion for the craft and inspired him to pursue it as his full-time vocation.
A self-taught sculptor with a background in jewellery manufacturing, Dawid brings a meticulous eye for detail and precision to every piece he creates. The skills developed through jewellery making naturally complement the intricate techniques required in bronze sculpture.
Although he has been sculpting professionally for only a short time, his work has already been exhibited at the Charles Greig Gallery, showcasing his talent and growing artistic vision.
Through his sculptures, Dawid hopes to preserve and celebrate the timeless tradition of bronze sculpting. In an era where this remarkable craft is becoming increasingly rare, he is passionate about inspiring the next generation of artists and encouraging young people to discover and carry forward the art of sculpture.
