Tretchikoff

Vladimir Tretchikoff (1913–2006) was a Russian-born South African artist whose distinctive, vividly coloured portraits became some of the most recognisable and best-selling artworks of the 20th century. After settling in South Africa, he developed a bold, highly detailed style that blended realism with dramatic colour, making his paintings instantly identifiable.

Tretchikoff is best known for iconic works such as Chinese Girl (popularly known as The Green Lady), Miss Wong, and Balinese Girl. His art captured the beauty, individuality, and cultural diversity of his subjects, earning both widespread popularity and critical debate.
